All About Me
I grew up in Southern Idaho on a small dairy farm 25 miles west of Twin Falls, Idaho near a little town called Buhl. Both of my parents were teachers and they cared for the farm and animals in their spare time. I graduated from Buhl High School in 1984 and attended the College of Southern Idaho from 1984-1986. I then transferred to the University of Idaho to continue my college career, graduating in 1991 with a Bachelor's of Science in Range Resources.
In 2006, after working for 6 years as a para-professional educator with the Boise School District, I made the big decision to pursue my Master's in Elementary Education at the University of Phoenix. When I graduated in 2009, I continued to work as a para-pro, until I received my teaching position with the Mountain Home School District in 2012. Currently, this is my sixth year teaching First Grade, four years with the Mountain Home School District and two years with Potlatch School District. I LOVE EVERY MINUTE OF IT! While I was attending the University of Idaho, I met my husband, Gene, and we married in 1989. We have two daughters, Sarah and Mackenzie, ages 26 and 22, respectfully. Sarah graduated from the U of I with a double major in Geology and Secondary Education. She currently teaches Ninth Grade Earth Science at Canyon Ridge High School located in Twin Falls, Idaho. Mackenzie is finishing her last year at the U of I, double majoring in Psychology and Sociology. She plans to continue her graduate studies there in Elementary Education. After spending 32 years as an Army officer, Gene retired and has worked as the Director of Utilities and Facilities Engineering for the U of I since 2012. He is also a commercial-rated pilot, working on his CFI (certified flight instructor) rating. Gene's goal is to finish and be teaching flight instruction by the end of spring on a part time basis. In my family, teaching seems to be our calling in life! When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy flying with my husband, flying fishing (although I am not very good at it), hiking in the outdoors, or spending time with my family. My mom, who is 91, especially enjoys having Gene and I come for a visit. I am continually looking for new learning opportunities to bring back to the classroom for my students to explore. I adore the energy First Grade students exhibit and I strive to create a structured, but nurturing learning environment in which they can grow academically. I look forward to exploring and discovering with you and your child this school year. |
